Lee Samowitz spent 18 years in the Connecticut General Assembly, where is was the Sub-Committee Chairman that edited and introduced the “Common Interest Ownership Act” (CIOA), which is the  body of laws that governs all condominiums, cooperative corporations, common interest ownership associations, neighborhood and community groups as well as developers of residential, industrial and mixed-use communities. We provide clients with the advice  to Association and Developers including:

 

• Collection and foreclosure of association common charges and enforcement of rules

• Financing for community associations, secured by income or real estate

• Revenue  collections, special legislation, utilities issues, environmental cleanups and brownfield  redevelopment

•  Writing, revising, and enforcing declarations, bylaws, rules, regulations and contracts with vendors and managers

• Formation, management, consolidation and dissolution issues

 

During his time as a state-representative,  he served as Co-Chairman of the Commerce Committee that created innovative incentives for brownfield  and urban redevelopment. Lee created  Connecticut General Statute 32-9t,  which provides fungible state tax credits dollar for dollar invested for major commercial real estate developments in brownfields or urban development in Connecticut.
